Private cars and light goods vehicles up to 3500kg Design Gross Weight must be tested ANNUALLY (or every TWELVE MONTHS).
If you are lucky enough to have a brand new car, it must have its FIRST test within THREE YEARS of the date of first registration!
What it less widely known is that you can have your vehicle tested up 30 DAYS BEFORE the date on which your current test certificate expires, AND still retain the same expiry date. |
| Bonnet | Horn | Sharp Edges | Bootlid |
| Lamps | Steering Wheel | Brake Pedal Antislip | Loading Door |

| Registration Plates | Windscreen and Glass | Fuel Filler Cap | Seat Belts |
| Wipers and Washers | Hazard Warning | Seats | Wheels and Tyres |
Exceptions:
Under VOSA rules, If you bring your vehicle to the testing station for a test and it fails on item(s)
that are NOT in the list above, and then take the vehicle away to have repairs done by yourself
or another garage, you will need to bring it back to our station within 10 working days to get a
partial re-test, for which we are entitled to charge half of the full test fee.
If you bring your vehicle back to the original MOT testing station after 10 working days then we
will have to perform a complete test and are at liberty to charge the full fee.
NB: If your vehicle fails upon a partial re-test the vehicle will have to have a full MOT test when you bring it back again and the full fee will be charged.
Why not check the date on last year's certificate and book your test in advance of the expiry date?

Booking your test
We recommend that all MOT tests are booked in advance!
Our station is always busy and we are unlikely to have a test slot available if you do not.
This is especially important for class VII tests as only one of our ramps is suitable for larger vehicles,
and also on Saturdays as we close at lunchtime and there are generally less testers available.
If you are in trouble and need a test "yesterday", we will try to accomodate
you if possible, but it is best to telephone first to avoid a wasted journey.
